Itinerary

Day1 Transfer from Chandigarh to Narkanda (Distance: 192 Km, Travel Time: 6-7 Hrs)

  • Upon arrival at Chandigarh Airport/Railway Station, you will be transferred by car to Narkanda via Shimla.
  • Shimla, the former summer capital of British India and now the capital of Himachal Pradesh, is nestled amidst the snow-capped Shivalik mountain ranges, offering breathtaking views of the mighty Himalayas.
  • You will drive through the picturesque villages of Fagu, Theog, Matiana, Narkanda Apple orchards, and Hattu peak (3,400m/11,154ft) at Narkanda, from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Central Himalayas.
  • Overnight stay at Narkanda.

Day2 Transfer from Narkanda to Sangla(161 Km,7-8 Hrs)

  • After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Kinnaur Sangla via Rampur, the gateway to Kinnaur Valley.
  • Along the way, you will visit the Hattu peak (3,400 meters/11,154 feet) at Narkanda, offering a panoramic view of the mighty Central Himalayas.
  • You will also visit the traditional wooden-carved temple of Goddess Kali on the top.
  • En route, you will visit the famous temple of Bhimakali at Sarahan, Hawa Mahal, Cricket Ground, and the oldest Mahal of the King of Himachal.
  • Bhimakali temple is known for human sacrifices made about two centuries ago. After visiting the temple, you will continue driving to Sangla Valley.
  • We’ll reach Sangla by evening, and check in to your hotel. The rest of the evening is yours to explore the area.
  • Overnight stay in a hotel in Sangla Valley.

Day3 Local Sightseeing of Chitkul Sangla Valley

  • After breakfast, you will visit Sangla and Kamru village, and take a short walk to visit Kamru Fort, which has a temple dedicated to Kamaksha Devi.
  • Sangla is a populous village situated on the right bank of the Baspa River, famous for its fertile soil and located at an elevation of 2621 meters above sea level.
  • It is built on a slope with houses rising one above the other, with the majestic Raldang Peaks towering behind.
  • Chitkul is a village in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, known as the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border. The Indian road ends here.
  • The Baspa Valley is known for its stunning beauty with gentle slopes covered with green vegetation. You can explore the nearby hills and some hiking routes to enjoy the scenic landscapes with a view of the gigantic Kinner Kailash Peak in the background.
  • Overnight stay at Sangla.

Day4 Sangla to Kalpa Local Sightseeing (Elevation: 2,759m/9,048ft) (Distance: 40 Km, Travel Time: 2-3 Hrs

  • After breakfast at the hotel, you will be driven to Kalpa village (2-3 hours).
  • We will make stops at Reckongpeo and take a walk around the local market. Recongpeo is the district headquarters of Kinnaur district.
  • You will have lunch in a local restaurant, where you can enjoy Indian or Tibetan food.
  • After lunch, you will visit Kalpa village and the nearby Roghi village. These villages are known for their thick pine forests and are famous for their apricots and apples.
  • The finest view of Mt. Kinner Kailash Mountain (6000 meters) can be seen from here. The view is especially spectacular early in the morning when the rising sun touches the snowy peaks with crimson and golden light.
  • Kalpa is situated at an altitude of 2759 meters above sea level, on the old Hindustan Tibet Road, at a distance of 260 km from Shimla.
  • It has all the characteristics of a heritage village and came into prominence after British Governor General Lord Dalhousie's visit in the 19th century.
  • You can explore the area on your own for the entire day now.

Day5 Kalpa to Tabo (Elevation: 3050m/10010ft) (Distance: 150 Km, Travel Time: 9-10 Hrs)

  • After breakfast, we will drive you to Tabo. The journey will take around 9 -10  hrs.
  • On the way, we will drive you through Puh and Nako. We will visit Nako Lake and the village and will have lunch in Nako.
  • Later we continue our drive to the Taboen route and visit the Gue village which is also the last Indian village on the Indo-Tibetan border.
  • We will be visiting the naturally preserved mummy of a Buddhist monk which is about 500 years old and was discovered here while building the road.
  • By the evening, we’ll reach Tabo and check in to your hotel. This will mark our entry to the beautiful Spiti Valley which is also known as the cold desert of the Himalayas.
  • Overnight stay at the hotel in Tabo.

Day6 Tabo to Kaza (Elevation: 3,200m/10,500ft) (Distance: 49 km, Travel Time: 3 hours)

  • Explore the ancient Tabo Monastery, the oldest monastery in the Himalayas, known for its exquisite murals and ancient scriptures.
  • Afterward, embark on a scenic drive to Kaza, which takes about 3 hours.
  • En route, you'll visit the picturesque Dhankar village, nestled amidst rugged mountains, and explore the Dhankar Monastery and Fort, perched dramatically on a rocky cliff.
  • Take a break and enjoy a cup of tea or have lunch with a local family to experience the warmth of Spitian hospitality.
  • Finally, reach Kaza, a bustling town in the Spiti Valley, and check in to your hotel. Overnight stay in Kaza.

Day7 Local Sightseeing in Kaza

  • After a luscious breakfast, set out to explore the stunning landscapes of Kaza and its surroundings.
  • We’ll drive you to Langza and Chicham Village.
  • Langza village is known for its fossil-rich mountains and the towering statue of Lord Buddha overlooking the valley.
  • Also, visit the Chicham Bridge and walk around the village while enjoying the landscape and clicking pictures.
  • Witness Yaks grazing in the lush green pastures and set out to the nearest village of Hikkim and Komic Village(the world’s highest village at 4450m) connected by a motorable road.
  • Visit the iconic Key Monastery, perched on a hilltop, overlooking the Spiti River, known for its ancient scriptures, rare thangkas, and panoramic views of the valley.
  • Next, visit the picturesque village of Kibber, one of the highest inhabited villages in the world, and get a glimpse of the local way of life.
  • Continue your exploration with a visit to the picturesque mountains and witness large herds of Himalayan Blue Sheep and Snow Ibex resting together.

Day8 Kaza to Chandratal Lake (Distance: 120 kilometers, Travel Time: 6-7 hours)

  • Have breakfast and embark on an adventurous journey to the mesmerizing Chandratal Lake, also known as the Moon Lake, located at an altitude of 4,300m.
  • You’ll pass through Kunzum Pass at an elevation of 15100ft to reach Baltal.
  • The drive takes you through the rugged terrains of Spiti Valley, offering breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, barren landscapes, and high mountain passes.
  • Upon reaching Chandratal, take a walk around the serene lake and soak in the stunning vistas of the surrounding Himalayan wilderness.

Day9 Chandratal Lake to Keylong (Distance: 130 km, Travel Time: 7-8 hours)

  • After an early breakfast, bid farewell to the enchanting Chandratal Lake and drive towards Keylong(2050m/6726ft), a popular hill station in Himachal Pradesh.
  • The drive takes you through the scenic Gramphu, and Sissu offering panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks and the picturesque valleys.
  • Upon reaching Keylong, check in to your hotel and relax.

Day10 Local Sightseeing at Keylong And Jispa

Day12 Manali to Chandigarh Drop(Distance: 310 Km, Travel Time: 8-9 Hrs)

  • You will be transferred to Chandigarh via Kullu, Aut, Hanogi Devi Temple, and Pandoh Dam.
  • Reach Chandigarh by evening. Drop off at Chandigarh Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey.
