Itinerary

Day1 Arrival at Chandigarh and Transfer to Narkanda (Distance: 192 Km, Travel Time: 6-7 Hrs)

  • Upon arrival at Chandigarh Airport/Railway Station, you will be transferred by car to Narkanda via Shimla.
  • Shimla, the former summer capital of British India and now the capital of Himachal Pradesh, is nestled amidst the snow-capped Shivalik mountain ranges and offers stunning views of the mighty Himalayas.
  • You’ll pass drive through the beautiful villages of Fagu, Theog, Matiana, Narkanda Apple Orchards, and Hattu Peak (Altitude 3,400 meters/11,154 feet) at Narkanda, you can enjoy the picturesque landscapes.
  • Narkanda is famous for its apple orchards and its panoramic view of the Central Himalayas from Hattu Peak.
  • Overnight stay at Narkanda.

Day2 Transfer from Narkanda to Sangla (Distance: 161 Km, Travel Time: 6-7 Hrs)

  • After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Kinnaur Sangla via Rampur, the gateway to the Kinnaur Valley.
  • Pay a visit to Hattu Peak (Altitude 3,400 meters/11,154 feet) at Narkanda, and enjoy the spectacular view of the mighty Central Himalayas.
  • After that, visit the old traditionally carved wooden temple of Goddess Kali on the top of the hill.
  • We will visit the famous temple of Bhimakali at Sarahan, Hawa Mahal, the Cricket Ground, and the oldest Mahal of the King of Himachal.
  • This temple is known for its intricate wooden carvings and is the same temple where human sacrifices were made about two centuries ago.
  • After visiting the temple, we will continue driving to Sangla Valley.

Day3 Local Sightseeing at Chitkul and Sangla Valley

  • After breakfast, we will visit Sangla, Kamru village, and take a short walk to visit Kamru Fort, which has a temple dedicated to Kamaksha Devi.
  • Sangla, at an elevation of 2621m above sea level, falls at a distance of 17 km from Karcham.
  • Sangla is a populous village on the right bank of the Baspa River, known for its fertile soil and scenic landscapes.
  • Chitkul, located in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, is the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border.
  • The Baspa Valley, with its green vegetation and gentle slopes, is considered one of the prettiest valleys in the Himalayas.
  • Explore these villages and be awestruck by the panoramic view of the houses built on a slope in the foreground of the mighty Kinner Kailash Peak.
  • Overnight stay at Sangla.

Day4 Sangla to Kalpa Local Sightseeing (Elevation: 2,759m/9,048ft, Distance: 40 Km, Travel Time: 2-3 Hrs)

  • After breakfast at the hotel, you will be driven to Kalpa village (2-3 hrs).
  • On the way, we will stop at Reckongpeo and take a walk around the local market. Reckongpeo is the district headquarters of Kinnaur district.
  • We will have lunch at a local restaurant, where you can enjoy Indian or Tibetan food.
  • After lunch, we will visit Kalpa village and the nearby Roghi village, which are known for their thick pine forests and apricots and apples.
  • The finest view of Mt. Kinner Kailash Mountain (6,000m) can be seen from here, especially during sunrise when the peaks are bathed in crimson and golden light.
  • Kalpa is situated at an altitude of 2,759m above sea level and is known for its heritage village characteristics.
  • This small town, located 260km from Shimla on the old Hindustan-Tibet road was earlier the District Headquarters of Kinnaur.
  • It gained prominence during the visit of British Governor General Lord Dalhousie in the 19th century.
  • Explore the town, interact with the locals, and try out the fine cuisine.

Day5 Kalpa to Tabo via Nako Lake, Gue Monastery (Elevation: 3,050m/10,010ft) (Distance: 150 Km, TravelTim

  • After breakfast, we will drive to Tabo (9-10 hrs).
  • We will drive through Puh and Nako, and visit Nako Lake, a high-altitude lake located at an altitude of 3,662 meters above sea level.
  • Nako Lake is known for its pristine beauty and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers.
  • Have lunch in Nako.
  • We will continue our trip to Tabo.
  • We will visit the ancient Gue Monastery, which is famous for its unique mummy of a Buddhist monk that is believed to be over 500 years old.
  • The mummy is preserved in a glass case and is a rare sight to behold.
  • After the visits, we will continue our drive to Tabo, a small town located at an altitude of 3,050 meters.

  • Tabo Valley is also known as the gateway to the Spiti Valley which is dubbed the Cold Desert of the Himalayas. It remains disconnected from the world during heavy snowfall in winter.

Day6 Tabo to Kaza via Dhankar Monastery (Elevation: 3,800m/12,467ft) (Distance: 50 Km, Travel Time: 2-3 H

  • After breakfast, we will visit the ancient Tabo Monastery, which is over 1,000 years old and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • The monastery is renowned for its exquisite frescoes and ancient scriptures, making it a significant cultural and religious landmark.
  • After that, we’ll drive to Kaza, the largest town and administrative center of the Spiti Valley.
  • On the way, we will visit the Dhankar Village, Dhankar Monastery, and the Dhankar Fort.
  • Dhankar Monastery is perched on a cliff overlooking the confluence of the Spiti and Pin rivers and is known for its unique architecture and ancient Buddhist murals.
  • It also offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.
  • We will have lunch with a local family.
  • After lunch, we will continue our drive to Kaza, where we will check into a hotel.
  • Kaza is located at an altitude of 3,800 meters and is known for its stunning landscapes, including rugged mountains, deep gorges, and picturesque villages.
  • During the evening, you can explore the local market in Kaza.
  • Overnight stay at Kaza.

Day7 Local Sightseeing at Kaza

  • After breakfast, we will explore the beautiful Spiti Valley by visiting Kee Monastery,Chicham Bridge which is one of the oldest and largest monasteries in Spiti.
  • Located at an altitude of 4,166 meters, Key Monastery is known for its beautiful murals, ancient manuscripts, and stunning views of the valley.
  • You can also visit Langza Village and Chicham Bridge. If the weather permits, you can also choose to drive to Hikkim and Komic Village(the world’s highest village connected by a motorable road).
  • Next, we will visit Kibber Village, which is one of the highest inhabited villages in the world, located at an altitude of 4,205 meters.
  • Kibber Village is known for its traditional houses, fertile fields, and picturesque landscapes.
  • You will be served lunch at a local restaurant in Kibber. Savor traditional Tibetan dishes.
  • The rest of the day is yours to spend. You can explore the nearby mountains and witness large herds of Himalayan Blue Sheep and Snow Ibex that gather in the evening.
  • After the sightseeing tour, we will return to Kaza for an overnight stay.

Day8 Kaza to Chandratal Lake (Elevation: 4,300m/14,108ft) (Distance: 90 Km, Travel Time: 5-6 Hrs)

  • After breakfast, we will drive towards Chandratal Lake, also known as Moon Lake, located at an altitude of 4,300 meters.
  • Chandratal Lake is a beautiful high-altitude lake that is famous for its stunning landscapes and serene surroundings.
  • Legends have it, that this is the exact spot from where Yudhistra was taken to the heavens in his mortal form on Lord Indra’s chariot.
  • The drive to Chandratal Lake is an adventure in itself, as we will pass through rugged terrains and cross the famous Kunzum Pass at an altitude of 4,590 meters.
  • The pass offers panoramic views of the snow-capped mountains and is a favorite spot among nature lovers and photographers.
  • Upon reaching Chandratal Lake, we will set up camp and spend the evening exploring the pristine beauty of the lake and its surroundings.
  • Overnight camping at Chandratal Lake.

Day9 Chandratal Lake to Manali via Koksar, Sissu, Atal Tunnel, and Solang Valley (Elevation: 2050m/6726ft

  • Get up early around 0630Hrs.
  • After a mesmerizing sunrise at Chandratal Lake, we will pack up our camp and bid farewell to this breathtaking location.
  • We’ll have a stopover in between for breakfast at Chandertal Lake Camp. For Lunch, we’ll stop at a hotel.
  • We will drive back to Manali, a popular hill station located in the Kullu Valley.
  • The drive from Chandratal Lake to Manali will take us through picturesque landscapes, quaint villages, and winding mountain roads.
  • We will pass through the Rohtang Pass, a famous high mountain pass at an altitude of 3,978 meters, known for its scenic beauty and thrilling drive.
  • Upon reaching Manali, we will check into a hotel and rest for the evening.
  • Overnight stay at Manali.

Day10 Departure from Manali to Delhi via Chandigarh(Distance: 575 Km, Travel Time: 13-14 Hrs)

  • After breakfast, we will check out from our hotel in Manali and bid farewell to this beautiful hill station.
  • We’ll pass through the scenic route of Kullu, Aut, Hanogi Devi Temple, Pandoh Dam, and Chandigarh.
  • The Kinnaur Spiti Valley tour comes to an end as you will be dropped at Delhi airport or railway station for your onward journey.
